Did you fit a new rubber doughnut on the plastic nut under the cistern?
The old one sets and shouldn't be reused.

Then the only answer is take it apart examine for causes of leak and refit, you may need to use some silicon sealer although I try not to since it make subsequent dismantling difficult.

More likely leaking from the seal on the syphon when you put it in the cistern
is the plastic nut on bottom nice & tight ?

As said start again and use abit of clear silicone on the seal.
Poss the bottom inside is not quite even and the seal not taking that up, or at worst an airline crack in the bottom when you have tightened it.

Take the cistern off and stand it somewhere and fill it with water and see where it leaks.
