High and low

On my myson apollo boiler i have a high and low thermostat ,which is the most efficient way to run it, eg set on high so that the water to the radiators is hotter,bringing the house temp up quicker probally using alot of gas in the process or running on low taking longer to bring house temp up and using as much gas? An after thought were they made with high temp thermostats for when we had colder winters.

Usually the low was used in the summer for heating the hot water and the high for the winter Hot water and heating.
