Hi,

I need to replace a hip tile to my roof, where one has fallen off.
Cannot afford the professional quote, so am investigating doing it myself.
Apart from buying the tile and cement - I would appreciate any advice on offer to assist in ensuring a safe and efficient job?
I have aluminium ladders of adequate length.

Thanks in advance,

Mike.

the biggest concern is safety and not doing more damage than is there already.
Tiles are brittle and break,is it a hip ridge?, I presume so as you need motar- nice strong mix needed.
You need a roof ladder to spead the weight when on a roof, do not climb up the tiles, well I wouldn't.
otherwise not a skilled job.

the original hip nail may still be in place, that is if it hasn't rotted away. you may need to nick the tile with a grinder to allow for this. get rid of all the dust and wet the area before applying the mortar.
