Hi All
Im thinking about replacing the existing danfoss tp5000s with hive minis but before i even buy them i would like to know how to wire them in.
Its a 2 bed newbuilt with a logic combi boiler with 2 zones. I took pictures of the thermostat wirings and the junction box.

Any help would be appreciated :)

You will need two single channel Hive receivers, one for each zone. I'll describe installing one, the other will be exactly the same.

The brown wire presently in the existing thermostat COM would be re-routed to Hive terminal 1 marked COMMON, and surprise surprise, the black wire in NO would be re-routed to the Hive receiver terminal 3 Heating on which is also Marked NO. :giggle:

Your existing thermostats are battery operated, but the Hive receivers need 230V mains to provide them with operating power. This would be connected to the N & L terminals and should come via the same 3A fused connection unit that powers the rest of the system.

If you wanted to pick the N & L up from the wiring centre. N will be the terminal to which the blue wires of the motorised valves are connected, and convention dictates that the permanent L is normally the terminal to which the grey wires of the motorised valves are connected, which looks to be true in your case due to the number of brown wires in it.

EDIT
I've modified my original post slightly as there was a mistake in it, and I've added the photo below to assist with the location of the N & L

Screenshot 2022-12-09 175543.png

The brown wires going out to the thermostat are also in the terminal with the top arrow, and the black wires coming back from the thermostats are those going to the two motorised valve brown wires lower down, should you wish to remove the existing thermostat cables from the wiring centre and install new ones to the Hive receivers.

Ignore the legend in the lid of the wiring centre, most of that is not applicable for your installation, and the part that is applicable hasn't been adhered too.

if you are using the Hive mini you will need 1 x Hive mini full kit and an additional hive mini and receiver , 1 Wifi hub will serve both receivers, but the Hive mini will not worked unless you have a Hub

this kit

and this kit

Not suggesting you have to buy from Screwfix, but these are the two kits you need, you might be able to find the whole kit as one bundle elsewhere at a cheaper price

So the first step is to get rid of the thermostat cables. Pick1
And then i can wire the hives but where do i get the N and L? Pick2

I got a bit confused with Hive 1+2 being the actual receivers, and not the terminal numbers, but once I got past that it looks good to me. (y)

Last question i think :)
The L&N connection already have 2 wires. Would they take 2 more or i would have to pair them into 2s?

That you will have to work out for yourself :giggle: They might go in, if not there are plenty of other terminals you could use.
