I've just tried to service my elderly mother-in-laws Izy (she has a gardener to cut the lawns) which was in a bad state rust wise. There was a hole in the usual place on the deck which I was able to shape some ally sheet over and pop rivet on.
Whilst I had it I decided that i should give it a service as I suspect that it hasn't been done for years. Did the usual, air filter, spark plug and new oil. I also took the fuel tank off and gave it a flush out.
Put everything back together and started her up. Fired after a couple of pulls on choke but wouldn't run on the normal throttle setting. Let it warm up a bit on choke but still the same, just hunts all the time.
Did some Google research and that threw up carb problems. So took it apart and stripped it down as far as I could but couldn't get the emulsifier tube out even with gentle pressure from above. Squirted carb cleaner down every hole including the idle jet and up through the emulsion tube and everything looked fine. Cleaned out fuel bowl and ran some petrol through the disconnected fuel pipe which was fine and then put it back together after struggling with the gaskets/black spacer/metal plate/carb and air filter box.
Started it up and just the same!!
Any suggestions please?
Richard
