I have bought an AG6 to replace my ageing flashguard (thats what we called them back them) it was sometimes called a Novaguard. Anyway its connected to an ADE Optima XM6 panel.

As I recall there was the 6 cores connected to the flashguard, the TADB and the + and - strobe connections. The instructions for the new box list 5 connections TADB and the -ve strobe. Is this correct, hence one core will become redundant. Its been a long time since I fitted a bellbox so I may be mistaken with the 6 cores utilised. I do recall having to put a wire link on the Flashguard unit connections, The link is not mentioned, so I take iits no longer needed.

so just the 5 cores need connecting between panel and bellbox then ?

Its a flashguard...As a side note, and please excuse my lack of knowledge, but whats the reason they call it the -VE Trigger/Tamper/strobe. Is it simply a case that the switch wire from the panel is on the negative side of the circuit.

It's very rare in this country to find a bellbox with a positive trigger, a few years ago castle panels used a positive return for the tamper , most are negative return.

so back to basics, the panel activates the sounder/strobe by switching the -ve side of the circuit (ie a constant +ve to the sounder/strobe). as opposed to a standard house lighting circuit where the Live is switched and the Neutral solid back to the board. apologies for my lamens terms.....
