If it has been turned on you need to set the first time to when you want the house to be up to the set temperature, e.g when you get up. The thermostat then calculates when the boiler needs to come on, varying the time according to how cold the house gets overnight.

Optimization is parameter 15:Op, and is set to ON by default.

So you actually get up at 6:00am and want the house warm by then? If that's not the case, set the first time to when you want the house up to temperature, say 7am or whenever.
Two and a half hours is a long time to heat a house. Have you considered improving the loft and wall insulation? There are plenty of special deals available at the moment - some free.
