Hi,

We had a new Baxi Combo boiler installed this time last year (which was moved from downstairs to an upstairs cupboard) and an extra radiator installed in our new conservatory with 15mm pipe work but rest of system is microbore.
Since this installation we have had hot radiators nearest to the boiler/hot water tank when the HW is on and when CH is switched off. Because it gets hot upstairs we have turned off the radiators upstairs and the water just flows downstairs so it is getting hot there. We have turned off the gatevalve underneath the flowvalve which directs water to the radiators but this has made no difference to establish whether the flow valve was broken but clearly this is not the case. The plumber (strangely enough) has gone AWOL so before calling another 'professional' we wondered if anyone had any ideas.
We think some of the new pipework may not be correct but don't know where to start!

Any help on this would be much appreciated.

Sounds as though you have been shafted...! :(

Is the one year old system a condensing combi...?

Has it ever worked completely correctly....?

Have you thought of persuing this cowboy and making a small claim at the small claims court...?

:D  :D  :D

I'm a bit lost:
What is a baxi combo?, is this a combination boiler or do you still have a copper cylinder (hot water)?

Sorry for being a bit misleading but we have a boiler which does both hot water and central heating which is the Baxi run by a timer switch and a separate hot water copper cylinder.
Hope this helps.

Its not a condensing boiler and it has never worked properly since it was installed.
The long and the short of it is that he works for a reputable local firm during the week and does 'cash' jobs at the weekend so we stupidly hired him to do this. He is Corgi registered and filled in the relevant paperwork for our boiler which has been registered but I am not sure whether we will have any kind of claim against him as we paid cash?
We have tried the softly softly approach as it is a small town and too many people know everyone but we have now got to the end of our tether. He makes arrangements to come and have a look, we stay in and he never turns up and then doesn't answer his phone for a while then when we finally get hold of him again he has some excuse or another.
How we wish now we had paid an extra couple of hundred pounds and had it done professionally.
If anyone thinks we have a leg to stand on please let us know...

There is something you can do as your Corgi was 'moonlighting', his employers would be none too happy either. You could choose to be nasty and divulge such information H M C & E who would like to know about such people in the community and legally you could persue him also.

That said, if you live in a small community and don't want to upset the apple cart, you may think that you knew when you payed in cash that it was an all round dodgy deal that was likely to catch up on you sooner or later, and it has.....!

Get someone in and pay to sort out this nearly new system out once and for all........

:D  :D  :D
