hot water but no heating

Hi I have a vaillant 221h combi the hot water works fine but if you put the heating on the boiler tries to start and makes all the right noises but apart from the poilot light it fails to ignite please could somebody help me

the pilot light is supposed to be on all the time, have you tried re igniting it (see manual)
