Hot Water from Cold Taps

Hi,

I have a standard boiler and tank.

Everytime I turn the cold tap on anywhere in the house very hot water comes out for about 10 secs then it goes cold.

When I put the hot tap on I get hot water from the tank

Any ideas??

Your cold water pipes must run parallel with your c/h pipes, heating the cold water up as it sits stagnant in the pipe. Every house has this for a few seconds but 10 sounds a bit much, unless you stay in a VERY big house
