Hotplates on hob not working. What could it be?

The oven still seems to be working okay, but none of the hotplates on the hob will turn on/heat up for some reason.

Seeing as the oven and the digital clock/timer are still working it's obviously not something simple like a blown fuse in the cooker plug, and I've had a look around the cooker but I can't see anything else that might be the cause.

For the record, its a seperate oven and hob combo (integrated in the worktop), not a freestanding oven/cooker.

If its off the same power supply, I wonder if a cable has become disconnected.
How old is the hob, old hobs had fuses

The cable is fine. The hob is 4 years old. I just located my warranty agreement and they have agreed to send someone out to look at it. :0) Thanks for responding though.
