Hi

My condenser dryer is no longer heating up to dry the clothes, everything else runs fine but the clothes come out wet and damp as when they went in

Is it possibly a failed thermostat in the machine? Is there a way I can check?

I do have dogs and wash their bedding and dry it in the dryer but am careful to hoover the condenser every couple of weeks to remove the build up and stop getting it clogged up?

Thanks
theresa

Yes, there is a pair of stats mounted on the back near the heater (part No. 1701583). You need to remove the outer rear panel to get at them and you can check them by linking the 2 wires that go to the device with a short piece of wire and briefly running the machine to see if the heater heats up. If one has failed you must renew the pair. Thermostat failure is the most common cause of your symptom but you can also have a good look at the heater itself to see any damage.

one of the stats will have either a green or red dot on it. if this is the oner that is open circuit then you can reset it by doing the following. get a very fine dril bit approx 1mm or so. dead centre in the stat between the two terminals you will see a small indentation. this is where a reset button used to be fitted. now you must very very carefully drill through the plastic but NOT through the stat. once you have done this you take a pin and gently insert it into the hole. a litle more pressure and you will hear a click which means that the stat is reset. if this reoccurs then the cause must be found. most likely are:-
1. blocked filter. it should be cleaned after EACH load.
2. blocked condenser. it should be clear from front to back.
3. too much in the dryer. if you pack in too much stuff it will overheat.
4. faulty stats. do as fido says. there is also another one in the door opening.

if you do replace the stats then get a set with a green spot on the t.o.c. this one trips 10 degrees higher than the red one.
