Hotpoint Aquarius WasherDryer WD61 Dryer Problem

Have a hotpoint Aquarius washerdryer wd61.Dryer works but heat does not appear to shut off during last 10 mins of cycle. Outside of door not particularly hot but clouds of steam when door is opened and clothes almost too hot too touch although they cool very quickly.Inside of door and drum too hot to touch.Could this be a problem with the timer switch not turning off the heater for the last part of the cycle or do I need to look elsewhere: at the thermostats perhaps?
Any help or pointers greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reply and apologies for slow response.
Clothes felt slightly damp when extracted but after about 30secs when cooled they felt dry.
