Good evening all.
Our Hotpoint Aquarius WMA 35 has stopped working. If you put it on a cycle it starts to fill but does then not move on to the wash cyle. There is a slight humming noise though.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what to check please?

Hope it is not terminal!

This site has been so helpful in the past with both our cooker and tumble drier so hoping for 3 out of 3

Thanks in advance

Is there water going in the mc ,hot first then cold what happens when it's on spin only does the drum move if not check motor brushes.

hi
thanks for the quick reply. Just put on a quick wash with nothing in. Water starts to go in for about 20 seconds and then it hums, clicks and the lights come on for 'wash', 'rinse and spin' and final spin. nothing else then happens.

And does water enter on the rinse prog. What happens on spin only. Does it go round.

have just put it on rinse and it has filled up but not done anything else, not turning and no noise.

just been and had another look and it is now making a noise as if running but drum not turning.

Check the motor brushes or belt come off , YouTube shows you how to replace them.

I just took the back off this morning and belt is fine and moves the drum around freely. Can you tell if the bushes are a problem without taking whole motor out? what am I looking for?

thanks
Richard

No you can't tell unles you remove the motor it's only 2 bolts plenty of vids on you tube shows how to check them.

Hi again. It was the brushes, which had worn down to about quarter inch long (new ones just fitted are about an inch). Anyway it is all working again.
thanks very much for your advice

Richard
