We have a Hotpoint Dishwasher HDA180X-66W. It will go through the drain cycle until it is almost drained, then you hear a click, and it stops draining. We checked the sink drain and it is not clogged. Any ideas of what the problem could be?
Since I posted the question yesterday, we found out there's more going on than we thought. The dishwasher goes through a wash cycle and then drains and goes into a rince cycle and at that time, food debris seems to be getting back on dishes.
After the cycle does the dishwasher drain out ok? If so, dirty dishes could be attributed to not getting the proper water fill when the cycle starts or the water not being hot enough. The level of the water should be just under the heating element when its done filling and the water temperature should be around 140 degrees. If the dishwasher is not draining thats a different matter. You can check the hoses and the grate under the spray arm for clogs.
