Dishwasher won't drain

Hi
No matter which cycle I put my dishwasher on is won't drain. the dial always sticks in a certain place and the cycle stops - I then click it on one notch and it starts up again.
Any suggestions?

I have the same model and a similar problem a few months back - turns out I had a carrot wedged in my drain hole. Couldn't sit down for a month after

Helen,

I notice you also have a problem with your dishwasher filling with dirty water - sounds like a blockage in the system somewhere
