hotpoint refrigerator not working

Hi could any1 help me discover why my refrigerator has stop working.

The power light is on but it does not keep cold. The freezer compartment is the same no ice is being made not sure what part has gone on it . Alll help would me much appreciated.

What is it? A good place to start this. Hotpoint have made several different fridges, freezers and fridge freezers. Which do you have, and what is its model number? Is any temperature being achieved? Is the compressor running?
