My HP w/m WMA31 has just started to make more noise than its usual loud spin.

I thought at first the load was causing it but this is not the case.

It is squeaking at certain spin speeds, seems unbalanced and is making more noise than it use to. It's 3 years old.

I've got the access panels off the back and the top off - the counterbalance is secure. Drive belt is OK. The springs and dampeners appear to move as expected. There is however signs of an (old) leak from around the drum bearing area.

Any thoughts please?

spin the inner drum by hand (open the dooor and spin) is it noisey? like a clunky noise, not an electic whiring noise?

Thanks for reply, Breezer.

When I spin the drum I don't get electric whiring or clunky noise. I get a metal-grinding-against-metal sound and feeling.
