The main bearing on our washer is getting noisier on spin, an engineer said over the phone a new drum would be needed bin it and buy another but the bearing is available as a spare so I thought if I can strip & rebuild cars and bikes, a washing macine bearing can't be that hard, just whip the back off and I'm there - mmmm, the back and sides are one pressing and it looks like the drum has to come out of the top or bottom - full stripdown - is it worth trying or should I tell her to run it till it dies altogether then bin it.

drum comes out of the front ,drum splits in two if you got a afternoon spare ,drift old bearing out .make sure you get bearing out otherwise you will need a rear drum .hotpoint will do the whole lot for 100.00 parts and labour .i can do it all in about a hr .but a clutch on a capri took me and a mate 9 days  .leave it to the experts or bin it .
