How bad is it?

Right so there was a border around the room in the bedroom which can only have been put on with unbreakable super glue. Scraped the border off but could not get rid of the glue so resorted to just scrapping the paint off as i was told if you paint over it the paint will just crack and peel off eventually. Now all around the wall looks like the pictures.

Now my plan is pretty much just use polyfilla around where the border was, sand it down and hopefully it doesnt stick out like a sore thumb. I have never in my life used polyfilla and quite confident i will be useless with it. Would this work to cover up the mess in pictures though or have i made this a nightmare by doing what i have done?

Edit: i'm sure this isnt really a terrible disaster compared to many here. But for someone useless at DIY will it cause me a lot of grief.

Polyfilla is best for holes and deep scratches.

I would use B&Q skim http://www.diy.com/nav/decor/decora...er-Repair-and-Skim-1L-10548830?skuId=11039362 or something similar.

Get a nice wide filling blade or plastic spatula with a straight edge, and skim it on over the top, a bit proud.

Then sand it back, and go over any bits again that need it.

That should sort it!
