just had the kitchen ceiling plastered on new plasterboard, how long before we can paint it and does it need treating (diluted emulsion, watered down pva

Paint it when it goes nice and pink. Don't go anywhere near it with PVA. Start with a 'mist' coat of about 25% water added.
