Could someone please help me calculate the amount of square area of tiles (in m2) I need based on the measurements in the photo of my loft wall which is in centimetres except for the 3.3 m line?

Thx.

Approx. 5.5m².
PS. Couldn't see a photo just one of Tony's drawings.:p

Thanks. How did you calculate that? Did you just take the area of a square (3.3x2.2 approx ceiling height of loft) and divide by 2 and round down to 3.5m2 because of angles or something more calculated?

Also, what is the position with tiling on the slopes in bathrooms, is it done or just left painted?

I make it 5.60 square metres, but remember to allow 10% or so for offcuts.

Here's how I did it:
3.3m x ((0.84+0.77)/2) = 2.66m2
((1.90+2.03)/2) x 0.5 = 0.98m2
190cm on the hypoteneuse - assume 45 degrees - gives an opposite and adjacent of 1.344m
203cm on the hypoteneuse - assume 45 degrees - gives an opposite and adjacent of 1.435m
1.435 + 1.344 + 0.5 = 3.28m (close enough to 3.3m)
1.344 x 1.344 / 2 = 0.90m2
1.435 x 1.435 / 2 = 1.03m2

Total = 2.66 + 0.98 + 0.90 + 1.03 = 5.57m2 +10% = 6.14m2 (say 6.20)

cripes. You remember your trigonometry? I would have loved to have remembered that to calculate this.

Thanks both. Is it normal to tile under a slope though or do you just leave it painted?

You can't really go off square meterage though depending on the size/pattern of the tiles that slope might use the same as a full wall.
You could do either, depending on your skill it may be better to paint.
