I'm looking for suggestions for neatly connecting a 68mm plastic rainwater downpipe into a 100mm clay underground drainage pipe, ideally so it's easily accessible for rodding. The 68mm pipe is currently just sitting inside the 100mm pipe with a cement cover. See attached photos. It's hard to see from the photos, but the 100mm pipe is sitting just 20-25mm from the wall, which made me think inserting a plastic hopper might be tricky. All ideas welcome - except for excavating the underground pipe

There are a number of options and one of these below may be ideal. You can then fit a branch section with an access bung for rodding purposes around 12 inch from the ground.

Does the plastic adaptor just push into the clay pipe without anything else to hold it in place? I wondered if it needs to be secured with a sealant.

Sealant would not hurt it, just make sure you confirm the correct size with the technical details of each product as the clay may differ in size than the modern parts. One of these will convert from clay to modern soil pipe sizes which will then accept the links in my 1st post.....

A Mc Alpine DC 1 will push into the clay - it's got fins . Coming up off that you could insert a single socket access pipe (soil pipe ) fitting then the reducer on top (y)

Thanks. I definitely need something with a solid fit into the pipe. It's probably difficult to see in the photos, but the clay pipe appears to have a broader rim that won't allow for something to fit over it.

The Floplast i linked to does the same and has a direct fit for the downpipe.
