Hi,

I need some advice about wiring up a spotlight fitting that requires an Earth.

I am fitting onto a typical ceiling rose with wiring to a bayonet - brown and blue wires. However, my new fitting also requires to be Earthed.

On the ceiling rose their are two Earth wires connected to a terminal.

My question is this.. Can I remove these from the ceiling rose and fit into the new spotlight fitting??

I won't start work till I hear something - best not to muck around with electrics if you are a bodger like me!!

Yes you can (if they can extend to the fitting).

It's important to make sure that both are terminated together, so if it's easier add an earth on to the existing block and extend that down to the fitting.

If you have a multi meter, check the earth for continuity after doing the work.

Its ok. That aricle has several flaws.

Dont use insulation tape.

Dont put all your earths through one sleeve.
