How to make a moulding of pillar cap?

I'm building a wall with an end pillar, and want to match up the cap with the one on the opposite side of the property.

What would be the best way to take a mold of the existing cap and make a copy?

I would probably just build a mould straight out of MDF, since it's a fairly simple geometric shape that shouldn't be too difficult to copy.
