I am looking to refresh the kitchen unit doors with a new colour, but it seems as though they have been painted over a few times already.

What would be the best way to put a new colour on them? i assume it would be a case of stripping them down somehow and starting from scratch?

Thanks

Save yourself much grief, and check out replacements from Diyhomefit......
excellent quality and to any size you like.
Splendid advice given over the phone, too.
John :)

ah right, it seems like it would work out to about £40 a door.

Just wondering, is it advisable to use Melamine board as a kitchen unit door?

I used B&Q for replacement doors about £20 a door , melamine is difficult to edge and will melt above a toaster or heat source.

ah right, thanks foxhole.

will B+Q do custom size replacements doors? I thought they only did the doors that came with their units.

thanks

Most (but not all) kitchen doors are standard sizes. Beware the hinge fitting holes might be different tho. You can usually move them but it takes a bit more work.
