Hi I have done some plumbing in the past but I am a DIYer at it so need some help on this one.
I want to replace a 15mm solder ring T-joint with a solder ring elbow as I am removing something. I prefer to use a solder filled joint as it will be difficult to get to if anything leaked ever plus I have several solder joints, so how can I remove the old solder to get the pipe clean enough to slot the new elbow on?
It is a bit of a confined space but I can get round it a little. I think I have seen someone do it by heating it up and wiping it quickly with a rag before which I could do without burning myself but is that the best way?
Any tips how to do it?
If it is with the rag, do you wet it or make it damp or anything, or just use it dry and quick?
Any advice appreciated.
