Hello

I will be attempting to install a new bathroom suite in the coming weeks.

The toilet I have purchased has 2 holes on either side of the pan near the base and a couple of plastic 'L' type brackets (which I presume are for fixing the pan).

The last toilet I installed over 5 years ago, just had two holes in the pan to allow you to fix it to the floor (screwing downwards). I am a little confused on how to secure this new designed pan with holes on the sides?

Could someone be kind enough to tell me if the plaster brackets are needed and how you secure the pan to the floor?

Many thanks

Did the same job myself recently. You need to put the toilet in position and draw around where the base sits, then mark on the floor opposite to the holes in the sides. Remove the toilet and join up the hole lines. Next you will need to measure how thick the walls of the base are, position the brackets this distance plus a couple of mm inside the line and use the line you joined up as a center. Mark the floor in the center of the brackets slot then drill and bolt down to floor. Reposition toilet, fit ferrules to base side holes, insert screw through ferrules, tighten screws and finally fit caps to screws. Hope this helps.

BEWARE

dont overtighten the pan screws as the last two i'v done have cracked the L shaped brackets on the last nip. job knacked !

go steady !!!
