I wonder if someone can help me.

Yesterday I filled up my 1.6 x reg vectra, this morning there was a nice damp path of petrol under the petrol tank.

I jacked up the car wiped away the petrol off the bottom of the tank and started the engine, no obvious leak in fact no leak at all, released jack on the drivers side did myself a brew and returned to the car, you guessed another damp patch.

Obviously I ascertained that the leak is on the driver’s side of the tank on the side or on the top.

I then checked the sender unit underneath the back seat which was moist with petrol again I wiped it down started the engine and nothing it remained dry.

I have decided to just replace the entire tank with sender unit as my fuel gauge was not working anyway.

Is this a big job ?

I am lead to believe a couple of axle stands and a tin of WD40 for the exhaust is all I will need ?

I am a bit worried how the fuel filling cap down pipe connects to the new tank ?

the filler neck (well most of it) should be part of the tank, and is also where your leak is likely to be!
