I want to use a 2 way switch as a 1 way - possible??

I have a brand new 2-way light pull switch knocking about and wanted to use it to replace a 1-way light pull switch.
Its duties will remain as a 1 way switch with just L1 in use, does it matter that L2 will not be used or should I use a One way switch instead?

It's perfectly ok to use a 2 way switch in a 1 way application.

do I just use L1 and leave L2 blank then?

It doesn't matter, you can use either. One wire into the common and the other wire into either line 1 or line 2.

Yes, just to expand on Jerry's comments, it matters not whether L1 or L2 is used because the switch is not like a rocker where you could get the switch operating in the up position. Same with a two way dimmer, you can use either L1 or L2 for the switched output, the operation will be the same.
