Can anyone tell me if Ideal gas boilers are any good? It'd be nice to buy British, but if they're poor quality I'll give them a miss.
Cheers

you will get differing opinions on here all installers have their own preferances, why not chat with your installer and ask him/her what they would recommend, personally I wouldnt touch them but some on here love them, if you are looking for a boiler to buy and install yourself then dont go with the cheap ones you get what you pay for

I wouldn't have one if I was paying for it. My parents one suffered a scaled up heat exchanger in less than 12 months and my sisters stopped putting out hot water, only central heating. Both combis.

I'm just waiting for the one in the house I've bought to die on me. It's just had a new motherboard in January, which was nice when the engineers van got stuck in the snow outside the house.

Fitted 50+ two had probs that were fixed next day. Everyone has horror stories of different boiler makes. ITS JUST LUCK really!! Boiler A will last for 5 years boiler B will last for 5 weeks. The thing with Ideal their back up has improved next day fixes with no whinging.

Oh and the main concern is the bloke fitting it not the boiler. Get it fitted well and any boiler will/should last

Scaled heat exchanger is due to poor instal. Not a boiler problem TBH!!
The new Logic and vogue are both excellent boilers.

I had an ideal boiler fitted five years ago, so far changed the motherboard and the diverter valve. Luckily I was able to do these things myself which kept the cost down a bit.
