We bought a house few months ago. The house has Ideal Classic FF350 Gas boiler installed for hot water and heating. The boiler is controlled by external heating controls (Sunvic Select 207, to be precise).

We have no previous experience with heating system so apologies if it all sounds lame.

All worked without a problem until today. We turned on heating for 1h with external controls. It worked as expected and switched off after 1 hour.

Some time later we noticed that there was a sound of flowing water coming from inside the boiler. There was also weird 'humming' sound, like something electrical working inside the boiler. We checked and made sure that controls are off and the gas was not burning. As a precaution we switched the main power button off. No change, still same sounds.

The water flow stopped after a while but the humming sound is still there.

Any ideas why this can be?

How long was toys"someone later"?

What valve configuration do you have in the wiring cupboard?

"sometime later" was about 2-3 hours after the controls switched the boiler off.

How and where do I check valve configuration?

Thanks,

aquarius 777 hows it going?
if you you use the search facility at the top, type in "he tribune iso cylinder leak and buzzing port valve?"
this has some photos of a cylinder set up and the valves, one white box and one chrome box in this case
in your airing cupboard you might have similar, maybe the same, maybe older, thats what dan was asking for
some photos of your set up would help horse

That is a pressure reducing valve but what its there for is not obvious without knowing where the pipes go to.

It might be better to call a competent heating engineer to service your boiler and identify the problem ( if any ).
