we have a 15 year old combi boiler, Ideal Sprint Rapide RS75N, it's worked well over the years with only the usual pumps, valves, etc. having to be replaced. it still works but when it fires up the pressure increases straight to 3 bar (stands at 1 bar when cold), we lose pressure/water through the safety valve & then it runs along at 2.5 bar, it needs topping up nearly every day.
any ideas?? someone mentioned weak diaphragm in expansion tank??

I would think the expansion vessel has lost its pressure. I have been told this is usually about 10 psi, not sure if this is standard for all boilers.

You can recharge your vessel with a foot pump. You can also check if it is possibly leaking air by putting some leak detection fluid ( water some washing up liquid down) around the valve.

It can be awkward and time consuming changing a expansion vessel depending on which boiler. It is much eassier to put one in line on the pipework.

Have you checked that water is not getting through the filling loop?

Hope this helps.
