Identifying wires on chandelier fitting

There is also an earth wire up inside of the fitting, which has also been cut
so it has been butchered then!

so I don't think the wire with the green stripe is earth.
It is not unusual to have a supplementary earth, so I think t could still be an earth
I do have a continuity meter but was hoping there might have been a wiring colour convention I wasn't aware of that would make it easier!
Does not matter about any wiring conventions, testing will identify what the conductors are functioning as.
The lampholders are the small screw-in type, 40W max.
So that makes it especially important that the conductors are correctly identified.

If you don't know that green (or green/yellow) is earth you should NOT be messing around with electrics.

BAN was quite right.
