hi, when joining 3/4 to 22mm does it need a special adapter or can a normal 22mm coupling be used with a 3/4 olive in one end and 22mm in other as normal? also whats the chance of a house with plumbing from 1964 being imperial (3/4 inch)? thankyou

Yes, you can buy a 3/4 olive and then use a normal 22cmm coupler as you say.

Can buy 3/4 olives at most plumbing outlets

1/2 to 15mm can generally use same fittings, and same with 1" to 28mm... but there is too much difference on the 3/4" to 22mm therefore you must do it as above.

Alternatively, depending on your skill level you can purchase an end feed 3/4" to 22mm fitting. Personally I prefer these.

Re. whats the chances of the house being imperial? - Change over from imperial to metric in copper plumbing in the UK was around 1970 to there is certainly a high possibility it could be imperial.... but very easy to change to metric
