Has anyone installed infrared heating in their home, or in a project? Have recently bought a house that needs upgrades to the current gas central heating system and considering switching to a far infrared heating system. Can only find positive reasons to do so online, but the reports are generally from people with an interest in selling the solution! Just wondered if anyone has any real-life experience of these systems? Thanks

simple answer no, why would you even consider it

Infra red has been used in commercial premises for many years. It has the advantage of heating people in its range, without overheating the environment. Think of the portable domestic units used for spot heating and imagine it as your only form of heating. It does not really offer a generally warm environment in a room, let alone a whole house.
