Input output

Hello all, with many apologies if this is a daft question, but I am trying to get my head around the types of inputs and outputs - in this case, it is on a Texecom Alarm Panel. Please can anyone kindly confirm likely the different scenarios where you may use the following 3 items:-

1 - Digicom outputs (the manual states "a stand-alone communicator")Huh? in what cirumstance would this be?
2 - Panel outputs
3 - Panel inputs

Any assistance would be much appreciated

Digicom outputs to connect to redcare / dual com / speech dialer ect
Panel outputs to connect a relay/ shock sensor reset /ect
Panel inputs where you connect items zones/ tampers ect
