I have a Signature 7Kw Inset multi-fuel fire, I am wanting it to be installed in a wooden fire surround with a marble hearth and fire panel, thing is I am being told different things by the installers who have been round up to now, one says its would be better if the marble was "slabbed" another says it cannot be used as it will crack and break up.

If you need any more info please ask.

marble may well crack because under these fires can reach temperatures in excess of 100c u will need to check your instruction manual. also these fires must be installed by a hetas registered fitter or you will have to go through building control with your local council they will charge you about £300.let me know if you need more info
