I plan to put an extractor fan in my bathroom, however I have a problem with the location of my isolating switch. I want to put it outside the en suite and above the door. I have a lintel above the door so cant feed the cable straight down behind the door.

Therefore could i:
1) feed the cable down from the ceiling inside the ensuite and clip it to the wall, then feed it under the lintel to isolating switch located above the door on the outside of the en suite.
Just incase you are confused by my explanation, the lintel is about 300mm above the door so from the actual lintel to the door is just boxed in with plaster board. That is what i mean by feeding cable underneath lintel.

My main problem is the live cable being cliped to the wall from the ceiling and then into the wall. A return cable will also have to come out witch will then feed the extractor fan. Is it allowed to have live cable showing in a bathroom? I would say not but hoping im wrong.
