I live in low rise flats on the 4th floor. I think that there are individual chimneys for each of the flats below. The hearth has been plastered over. any clues on how to locate my chimney so that i can install my new gas fire?

Have a look for a gas point coming out of the floor/wall . knock along wall near it with your hand and listen for a hollow sound and thats prob where chimney is
