Hello all,
Gas fire has arrived (at long last). Would like to know if I should install the fire surround and hearth before I get someone to fit the new gas fire. It is a gas open inset type fire that should just sit the in recess.
I'm not at all sure about the correct order to do any of this.
The back of the fireplace area (between the fire surround and the fire) would ideally be painted to a colour of our choice. There is however a problem with this. A small areas needs filling and skimming and is not completely flat (has some bits of concrete sticking out). Do I need a board behind the fire surround or is it ok just to fix and paint straight onto the skim?
Thanks
