Hi. I have scoured the internet and not come across the situation I face and need advice.
My house was build c. 1800 in Cotswold stone. Somewhere in the 60's / 70's renovation took place which included lining the inside of the property with breeze blocks and the finishing off the inside. So what I have are large thick walls of stone then a cavity before the breeze block. When in the loft I can look down the gap all the way to the floor. I can see some cables strung in this gap as well. I want to insulate but aside from this being unusual access to my house is difficult and one side impossible. I did get an extension cavity wall insulated some years back and that makes a difference there; however the driver advise his pipes could not reach the rest of the house.
My question is how best to insulate this space between old wall and breeze block. On one side of the house there are no windows at all so could in theory be filled from the top without cold spots under windows (but have seen people advising against this).
Any expert view would be most appreciated.
