I live in a block of three flats. We have a pretty old intercom system, ones that I have seen in most older flats. I can't see a name on it. My question is, I had the same one in my last flat, and my ex adapted it so it could be switched on and off. How do I do this? does anyone know?

If possible open the handset and on the circuit board or a sticker inside you should find a make and model ie fermax, aiphone and we can see how it can be done.

It's a farfisa
1 audio transmission
2 audio receiver
3 ground
4 terminal connected to ground. It can be isolated
by cutting W1 jumper (W5 for FT11U/D).
The relay contact, normally open, is connected
between terminals 4 and 5.
5 lock release (max 1A)
6 intercom call input (12Vac-150mA)
7 relay contact normally closed

connect terminal 6 accross a toggle switch to disable the call feature when you want a bit of quiet :D
