I am having a new extension built the plans which have been approved by building regs show the width for internal doors can I have a smaller door width? Do building regs state the minimum door width? If so what is it?

standard door width sizes are 27", 30" and 33". these are all acceptable by building control, for use in extensions.

i would always try an fit a minimum 30" door simply for ease of access.

i'm not completely sure, but i think new building sites are going for 33" doors as standard. this is to comply with the disabled access regulations.

Just think that one day you or your friend may wish to go through that door in a wheelchair without hurting knuckles.
