Hi

I intend replacing all the doors in my house, following the construction of an extension.

Initially my wife wanted hardwood doors, but I've managed to persuade her that softwood could be stained and be just as good (well, good'ish)

I've been advised by the jiner that I shouldn't buy cheap pine doors as they will either come 'already warped' or will warp soon after installation.

Having seen a local trade supplier, there are doors at all costs

Any tips would be appreciated: I intend spending up to about £60 per door.

thanks

Probably the easiest doors to install due to weight are hollow hardboard doors. Almost a one man job. ;)

If you are collecting the doors yourself check them then to see if they are warped. Prior to hanging, if you are storing them at home lay them in a pile, flat and on some timber battens.DO NOT STAND THEM UP AGAINST A WALL, they will warp. Also hang them on 3 hinges, and decorate asap to stop moisture getting in. Make sure you seal all edges as end grain is where it is most vunerable.
