Hiya,
Last night i raised the height of an old chimney breast by 2 foot.
Basically its a 3 foot wide chimney breast that i am recessing a cooker into...i raised the height so it could comfortably house the extractor)

Now..it is of block construction and i want to plaster the new bit of chimney that has been revealed.
Ill get a mate to skim coat it the weekend(havent told him yet!!)
Anyways what mix should i use??...will one coat do or do i need to do 2 etc?
Cheers,
Marty.

If it's of block construction Marty, it'll need more than a skim coat. If there's not a lot of heat near it, I would coat the blockwork with bonding coat or hardwall and then skim it.

Roughcaster.

Cheers roughcaster...ill get a bag of bonding and build it up with that and ill get a lad to skim it the weekend for me.
Many thans,
Marty.
