I have some of this tape left over and want to use it on a drinking water pipe:

It only says "for all common gases and liquids" but not explicitly "for potable water" as the usual white stuff does. Is it safe?

Just trying to save myself a trip to the shop!

safe to use but a lot thicker than PTFE get the right stuff

Yes, I only use gas PTFE where tape is needed, so much better than the thin water PTFE, specifically because it's thicker. I also have to add that it is as proper as the normal thin PTFE tape is, use away.

I also hasten to ask, why do you have gas PTFE tape in the first place?? Especially if you are then asking if it can be used on water.
