Hey folks,

Can any of you humour me for a daft question please? Was chatting with a friend last night that we seem to be using a lot of leccy, he said is your immersion heater on. I know it has always been unplugged so thought nothing more of it.

I had another look and it's hardwired into a box as well with a thermostat set to 50.

Can I turn this thermostat off and will the boiler do it all? I don't have a combi boiler but the other type (system? With the cold water and header tanks in the loft).

Cheers!

Larry

The thermostat that's low down on the cylinder has nowt to do with the immersion heater ,it controls the boiler when hot water is selected on your programmer.
The immersion heater will have a cable from it to a switch ( not in your pic) that turns it on / off.

Thanks madrab, it was at 50. I turned it off before taking the pictures. It's back to its original position now.

Thanks Terry, there is a plug that's not plugged into anything connected to the top of the immersion heater (pic3) so I guess the boiler is doing all the heating of water. Cheers

It’s a bit odd having it on a plug top and no, it’s not plugged in.
