The washer is not working properly on any program. On Spin, it will only pump water out but will not spin the drum. On Rinse, it starts to fill with water and will not stop filling so presumably a fault with programmer. None of the wash programs get the drum spinning. Have looked at all wiring and no apparent bad connections or burns.

I've leant that some washers can be reset so if anyone knows a reset procedure to try, please advise.

Thanks

Unplug, press and hold on button for 10 seconds, plug in.
However, if the drum doesn't spin at all, most likely you have a broken/dislodged belt, or a burnt motor (hopefully not).

The motor/drum spin freely enough and the belt is on.
Will try what would you suggest.

Water level sensor has to detect drum empty, before it will spin.

Water level sensor needs to be able to detect how much water is in the drum, before shutting it off.

First port of call, the water level sensor. A small frying pan shaped object, with two wires to it, and a pipe. It will be mounted high up, on the side of the frame somewhere, with the pipe going down to the bottom of the drum/discharge pump. It contains a sensitive diaphragm, pressure switch. Remove the pipe at the sensor, and try blowing down it, the pipe should be clear. Add a short piece of pipe, to the sensor, and blow down that very gently - you should here the click of a switch, if that is OK.

Yes, if the belt is broken/dislodged or motor is cooked, the drum will spin when you move it by hand, but won't move on its own.

This sounds like it might be another motor brushes fault. I think this is a very old machine is it not so strong possibility motor brushes have worn away

Indeed, it appears the motor brushes were the culprit.

I tilted the washer sideways and gave the motor casing a lot of light taps with a hammer and that seems to have solved it.
Perhaps carbon dust causing the brushes to stick in the sleeves and the tapping loosened them. Will take the motor out and service it.

Set the washer away on a 40° Cotton & Linen was and it completed the full cycle no bother and did a good wash.
Tried setting away on other programs and started them all.

Only issue is the led are not lighting for Quick Wash and End so presumably needs new led bulbs soldered in.

Thanks All!

The washer's been replaced with a new 45 min wash/7kg Hotpoint. Its owner didn't want to spend any money on the old Bosch.
