Is this asbestos?

One of my trades reckons it's not - although he claimed it's "asbestolite" because it contains shiny crystals, which he thinks is a safe replacement for asbestos. Googling, though, asbestolite appears to be just a brand name for deadly old proper asbestos. I'm pretty sure I've not been exposed as it was removed by the guy who thinks it's not asbestos and left in the back yard.

Sorry, but when I Googled asbestolite I got the impression that it was an Australian registered trade mark.

Do you have any links suggesting that it is a dangerous form of asbestos sheeting?

Whilst not wanting to downplay the dangers of some asbestos products, having looked at the image, I personally would not be overly concerned and agree with alastairreid that it looks like Asbestolux.

If you are still concerned, just keep the section in the garden wet. Asbestos is only dangerous if the fibres are dry and free to fly around.

BTW you can purchase testing kits

Sorry yes, you're both right, he said asbestolux, not asbestolite. That also explains the confused Google results I was getting! Since you both think it's asbestolux then I'll leave it. The rubbish disposal peeps are coming Monday anyway to remove all the builders waste that's filling my yard at the moment.
